My top 5 study tips

1Don't wait to start practice questions. Many students think that it's more beneficial to pass through the content and start questions near examination periods, but realistically, you'll never run out of questions available, so it's better to start applying your knowledge as you're learning the content for the first time.

2Review, review, review. With so much information from all your different subjects, conversations you may have and the news, your brain simply won't retain or recall it all. Set up targeted sessions in which you revise the content you've learnt before through active recall!

3Read academic articles! For a subject like English in which you need to argue a unique and cohesive argument, understanding different perspectives can assist your critical thinking skills and help you to develop your own argument.

4Ask for help. Ask your friends, teachers, tutors and mentors for any questions you may have; both academic and not. As a student you're not expected to know everything and those who ask often end up knowing more!

5Set up a productive space. This means studying at a table (instead of your bed) and only using that space to study in. If you bring distractions into this space once, then you're likely to continue to allow yourself to continue to be distracted whilst working.

Great futures begin with great HSC results
