My top 5 study tips
Make strong and reliable connections with students and teachers. Forming a study group and learning alongside others is not only motivating and effective, but makes the whole experience more enjoyable. Teaching, testing and quizzing peers who are aiming for a common goal helps the study groups be more productive.
Self reflection is key. Oftentimes when we get a bad score in an exam, or are in general disappointed, you may tend to want to forget about the task in its entirety. However, consistently going over mistakes that were made, and reflecting on whether it was caused by exam conditions, under preparation of content, mis reading the question etc. is highly beneficial in improving for the future.
Keep on top of personal well-being. Maintain extracurricular activities such as volunteering, sports, family-time, friend-time, hobby-time, alone-time. All these aspects are crucial in providing a strong base that will defend against the oftentimes stressful and overwhelming situations that may be faced during senior years.
Know that you are not alone. Seek help whenever possible, from not only tutoring mentors, but school teachers, peers, school counsellors and year advisors.
Do exam style questions consistently. Starting to do these questions on a daily or weekly basis in the build up to examinations is effective in slowly building up a long-term understanding of these questions and how to answer them.
