Have you got what it takes to be a Talent 100 Scholar?
Introducing some of the brightest minds across our Talent 100 Tuition Centres, with students from Burwood, Epping, Chatswood, Hurstville and our latest Sydney City Campus – welcome to our 2020 Scholarship students!
We can share their unique personalities and passions both in and outside of our classrooms.
This week we’ve been chatting to our Scholarship student, Brendan who studies at our Burwood Campus.
When did you join Talent 100?
It would be 2 years ago, so 2018.
Which subjects are you currently taking at Talent?
Mathematics Extension 1
How has Talent contributed to your overall academic journey?
Probably the extra chance I get to go through schoolwork that I may not be able to do at home, by myself. I can just ask for help from my Mentors and tutors at Talent.
Can you share your number one study tip for students?
I would highly recommend starting as early as possible. Especially if it’s a group assignment, try and pick your friends or a group of people who will start as soon as possible. If you get assignments done really early, not only do you have time for other work but just in case you have an idea in your head, you’ll have heaps of time to work through and include that to your assignment.
How does it feel being ahead of your peers and school?
Really good! It’s taken a lot of the stress and workload off, having to learn about new topics in school. It has given me an edge over my classmates.
What’s a piece of advice you would give to other students?
Have your study environment mimic an exam room. Having food, being rugged up and comfortable might not always be the best thing for the environment, because you want to try and mimic the environment that you’ll be sitting the exam in. So I think that having a space which is as quiet as possible and almost as if it was a classroom would probably be most effective.
What’s your hidden talent, or something we might not know about you?
I don’t like learning something just for the test, I prefer to learn something because I genuinely find it interesting. So I think if I can find an interest in something, I’ll develop a passion for it and I’ll want to study for it (it won’t be a chore).
If you could describe Talent in one word, what would it be?
Thorough
