How would you describe the learning environment at Talent 100 and what would you consider the best part?
The learning environment at Talent 100 was very informative and productive for me and the best part of the environment was learning with other students and hearing their responses.
What were you aiming to achieve by attending Talent 100 and how did we help you achieve that?
By attending Talent 100 I was aiming to achieve as much as I possibly could by thoroughly learning and asking questions of which I felt I may not fully have known or understood previously. My mentor helped me reach what I wanted to achieve, as well as the support from my peers within the classroom.
How did you find the resources?
I felt that with the notes being bound together in a book were much more practical and easier to use when turning the pages etc compared to my loose school notes.
Have you tried our holiday programs? If so, how did they benefit your learning?
I tried the Holiday HSC Trial Prep course and it was extremely useful for both my school trial assessment as well as revision for the HSC.
Have you used the tutorials and if so how have they been beneficial?
The tutorials were beneficial as the mentors helped to address any issues or gaps in my learning at Talent 100. Personal feedback provided within these tutorials meant I could better reflect and refine my skills in Economics.
How has your mentor’s teaching style helped you with your studying? (Why did their teaching style work for you?)
My mentor’s teaching style, which involved:
- Reading and then explaining the content within the textbook;
- Elaborating with real-life examples as well as answering questions;
- After the content is covered in the lesson, sample multiple choice and short answer questions are done by the students and then explained by the mentor.
This teaching style helped me immensely with studying Economics, as the constant explanation of content combined with subsequent questions lined up with syllabus dot points allowed me to achieve great marks in Economics.
It helped me having a younger mentor as my mentor recently completed Economics in the previous HSC year and I felt that it was very easy for her to teach our Economics class as she had retained her experience of Year 12 Economics.
Can you share your number one study tip?
- My number one study tip is to not omit recreational activities entirely from your life during Year 12, but rather, try to find a balance of school work and life. That being said, you should focus a lot more on your studies as the HSC will come and go so quickly. You don’t want to look back afterwards and think: Why didn’t I put more time and effort into my studies?
What are you looking to study next year:
My career aspirations are to study a Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) at UNSW and majoring in immunology.
If I could describe Talent-100 in one word, it would be:
EXCEPTIONAL!
