Meet Our Talent 100 Students: Daniel (Year 12 2019)

While you’re usually used to our staff and mentor blogs, we’ve decided to flip the switch so you can find out more about the students who actually study at Talent 100.

What was the best part about studying at Talent 100?

Every teacher that I learnt from had outstanding academic merit. This first-hand experience often meant that our lessons were catered towards writing skills (for extended response questions), and learning how to get the most marks as possible – as opposed to purely content based. These are skills that aren’t part of the syllabus however they are crucial to achieve the best marks possible.

Can you share your number one study tip?

Take a genuine interest in the subjects that you study.

If you love what you do, then it is much easier to understand and you end up doing more research in your own time just out of curiosity. This broadens the examples that you can draw upon and demonstrates a superior understanding of the material.

What’s a piece of advice you would give to other students?

Be consistent throughout the year. Keep up a constant amount of work throughout your whole HSC but also go out and have fun. If you do this, then you end up being a lot more relaxed when it comes to exam time because you’ve been doing everything for so long that it becomes muscle memory.

What are your career aspirations after high school?

I’d like to combine my love of sciences with a practical discipline such as engineering to one day create my own start-up company based on a technology or product that I have developed.

What’s your hidden talent/something we might not know about you?

I’m a second in Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo and I love martial arts.

If you could describe Talent 100 in one word, what would it be?
