Meet Your Talent 100 Mentor: Daniel

Here at Talent we’ve amassed a variety of Mentors which have taught and encouraged our students throughout the years – guiding them through high school and the HSC.

We call our teachers and tutors ‘Mentors’ because they deliver more than simply theory. Talent 100 Mentors are all outstanding achievers, but it’s their passion for teaching and mentoring which matters most. Whilst an exceptional academic record is a must, our Mentors are also chosen for their ability to work with students of all levels and provide the pastoral guidance for future success.

Not only do we want to give thanks to these Mentors who have enriched the lives of many at Talent, but want to share their unique personalities and passions while also inspiring the next generation of high school students to strive for their best.

Daniel’s Top 5 Study Tips:

Don’t just memorise formulae. Try to aim for an understanding of the underlying mechanisms and facts; if you understand why something is so, it will help you apply it correctly and that is what marks are awarded for.

Try to take breaks. Studying for hours in a continuous block is possible, but it is far easier to retain information if you break it up.

Be disciplined in your study. Whether you study consistently, or tend to study a lot before exams, try to be organised and disciplined. Know what you need to know, how long it will realistically take, form a plan and execute.

Practice. Once you are confident in your content, practice. Don’t be afraid to use the solutions if you get stuck. Do a few questions each time you complete a topic or section.

Maintain some balance. Your academic career is a marathon, not a sprint: work hard but remember not to peak too early and risk burning out before the finish line.

Finally, stay focused and never give up, no matter the odds. All goals are achievable.
