Meet our Talent 100 Student: Erick

Meet our Talent 100 Student: Erick

While you’re usually used to our staff and mentor blogs, we’ve decided to flip the switch so you can find out more about the students who actually study at Talent 100.

We can share their unique personalities and passions both in and outside of our classrooms.

This week we’ve been chatting to Erick who is currently in Year 12 and studies at our Epping Learning Centre.

What’s the best part about studying at Talent 100?

The most useful part of Talent 100 is the experienced mentors. I have found it extremely beneficial to clarify specific questions about concepts I couldn’t understand at school with the mentors. Their explanations are easy to understand, specifically focused on the HSC and are concise.

Have you tried our holiday programs? If so, how did they benefit your learning?

I attended the Physics and Maths Holiday Trial Preparation programs. These courses were a great overview of the syllabus, allowing me to identify areas of weakness and feel confident in my preparation. Additionally, since both these subjects had recent syllabus changes, the programs were a good source of revision material to use.

Can you share your number one study tip?

Try to understand the content you learn. I find asking the questions ‘why’ and ‘what if’ lead to the best avenues of learning. This has helped me approach non-routine exam questions with more confidence.

What piece of advice would you give to other students?

Try to relax. Don’t stress yourself out by constantly studying. Instead, take productive breaks like exercising or working on extracurricular projects.

What are your career aspirations after completing high school?

I plan on studying Maths and Actuarial Studies at university. Where I go after I’m unsure, but careers in Modelling and Economics seem to be interesting.

What’s your hidden talent/something we might not know about you?

My date of birth uses the numbers 0,2,3 twice.

If you could describe Talent in one word, what would it be?

Essential
