Now you have finished the HSC, what is your number 1 tip for students?

Don’t cram! Leading up to busier exam weeks I think it’s good to prioritise and plan tasks so that you’re reducing your stress.

What did you gain out of tutoring and how would you describe your experience at Talent?

It’s definitely very supportive and pushed me to challenge myself. I’d say that the best part is the friendly atmosphere. I was hoping to improve my ranking and understanding of the course. My mentor and tutorials were key factors that allowed me to achieve this.

Talent’s resources were great in that they provided a full term’s notes as a textbook each module. Having access to a term’s worth of notes bound together was useful when revising over less structured school notes. It also makes studying a lot more time efficient, especially during exam times when your notes might become a bit scattered, it’s useful to just have a book where you can refer to all the content in the module.

Access to 1-1 tutorials was also great to go through aspects of the syllabus you might struggle with otherwise.

Who was your mentor and how did they help you?

Allan Shi, who is a qualified Science teacher. My mentor was very good at explaining the harder parts of the syllabus. He provided  a step-by-step approach to answer band 6 questions, which I could then model my own answers off. The fact he is a qualified teacher but relatable in age was a huge bonus because it means that the mentor understands the content very well and can teach it in a way that is easy to understand. This enabled me to enjoy the Chemistry classes and make content interesting.

What are you planning to study in the future?

I want to study com/law and go into banking. I have been accepted into an internship in a bulge bracket bank, and excited about what that will bring.

How would you describe your Talent experience in a few words?

Supportive. The friendly environment and atmosphere pushes everyone to challenge themselves.
